A Welcome to Those Awakening

Brothers and sisters,

Welcome to a safe place for those who are “physically in, mentally out” (PIMO) among Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW.org).

You have likely arrived here because, at some point in your recent experience as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, you discovered that certain teachings presented by the Governing Body (the self-appointed “faithful and discreet slave”) are not supported by Scripture.

For many, this realization was triggered by well-documented issues such as:

  • The organization’s ten-year affiliation as an NGO with the United Nations
  • The handling of child sexual abuse cases
  • The testimony of Geoffrey Jackson at the Australian Royal Commission (ARC)

These are often just the beginning—“wake-up calls” that prompt deeper examination.

When Trust Is Broken

This experience can be compared to discovering unfaithfulness in a marriage.

When trust is broken:

  • Confidence is shaken
  • Past statements are reexamined
  • Doubt begins to grow

Even when forgiveness is extended, the foundation has changed.

Similarly, many Jehovah’s Witnesses placed complete trust in the Governing Body—believing they would never mislead them. When contradictions or deceptions come to light, the natural response is:

“What else have we been misled about?”

This is often when the process of awakening begins.

Personal Responsibility and Reexamination

It is also important to acknowledge our own role.

Many relied on human leadership rather than following the clear warning:

Psalm 146:3

In contrast, the Beroeans provide a better example:

Acts 17:10–11

They carefully examined whether what they were taught aligned with Scripture.

Jesus also emphasized:

John 4:23–24

True worship must be based on spirit and truth.

A Difficult Question: Should We Leave?

Many who awaken consider scriptures such as:

Revelation 18:4

And conclude that they must physically leave.

However, this raises an important question:

Is that truly what Jehovah requires?

A key issue is understanding the distinction between:

  • Babylon the Great (false religion)
  • God’s spiritual temple (His true household)

These are not the same.

A Time of Awakening

Scripture indicates that Jehovah allows a “deluding influence” for a time:

2 Thessalonians 2:11–12

But He also removes that influence in due course, allowing many to awaken.

This awakening often leads to:

  • Reexamining teachings
  • Studying Scripture more deeply
  • Relying on exegesis (drawing meaning from Scripture itself)

All of this should be done with prayer and reliance on holy spirit.

What Should We Do Now?

This leads to a pressing question:

What should we do if we remain within the congregation?

Scripture provides a helpful parallel:

Ezekiel 9:4

Those who were “sighing and groaning” over wrongdoing were marked for protection.

Similarly, today, many remain within congregations while:

  • Recognizing problems
  • Maintaining integrity
  • Choosing to follow Scripture over human direction

A Personal Decision

Some choose to leave. Others remain.

This is a deeply personal decision:

Romans 14:10

Each individual must decide before Jehovah and Jesus—without judgment from others.

However, those who remain should be aware:

  • Speaking openly may lead to removal
  • Following Scripture may conflict with organizational expectations

A Purpose for This Community

“A Place for JW PIMOs”

This community exists to:

  • Provide support and encouragement
  • Help individuals maintain faith in Jehovah
  • Strengthen loyalty to Jesus Christ
  • Offer a space for scriptural discussion

We recognize that we are living in a time when prophecy is unfolding within God’s household—His spiritual temple.

From PIMO to PISA

While the term PIMO is widely used, (Physically in Mentally Out ) a more accurate description may be:

PISA — Physically In, Scripturally Awake

If we are:

  • Attending meetings
  • Engaging in ministry

Then we are not truly “mentally out”—we are awake to Scripture.

The Need for Support

There is a lack of safe environments where individuals can:

  • Discuss Scripture openly
  • Receive encouragement
  • Maintain faith

Yet Scripture emphasizes the importance of mutual encouragement:

Romans 1:12
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Hebrews 10:24–25

This community aims to fill that need.

A Balanced Approach

Not all ex-JW communities are beneficial.

Some:

  • Promote anger or ridicule
  • Spread misinformation
  • Drift into non-Christian beliefs

This can reinforce negative stereotypes and discourage honest inquiry.

Scripture warns:

Proverbs 26:11

Instead, this community seeks to:

  • Maintain respect
  • Focus on Scripture
  • Encourage balanced discussion

A Place of Refuge

This is intended to be a:

  • No-judgment zone
  • Support system
  • Safe refuge

Especially for those experiencing:

  • Stress
  • Fear
  • Isolation
  • Depression

Scripture describes such protection:

Isaiah 32:2

Our Shared Goal

Whether you choose to stay or leave, the focus remains:

  • Faithfulness to Jehovah
  • Loyalty to Jesus
  • Obedience to Scripture

We aim to:

  • Support those who remain
  • Encourage those who leave
  • Help all remain spiritually strong

Encouragement for the Future

We may soon see significant developments.

When that time comes:

  • Many may be unprepared
  • Some may struggle deeply

Therefore, now is the time to:

  • Strengthen faith
  • Support one another
  • Remain spiritually grounded

Final Encouragement

Scripture reminds us:

Luke 8:17
1 Corinthians 10:11
1 Thessalonians 5:6
Micah 7:7

Nothing remains hidden forever.

Jehovah sees all—and will act in His time.

Conclusion

This community exists to encourage all of God’s people:

Whether you remain or choose to leave, continue:

  • Following Jesus
  • Trusting Jehovah
  • Strengthening your faith

Galatians 6:9

Closing Thought

Thomas Paine wrote:

“It is necessary to the happiness of man that he be mentally faithful to himself, infidelity does not consist in believing, or in disbelieving, it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe.”

Optional Deep Dive Intro,

Welcome to a safe place for those who are “physically in, mentally out” (PIMO’S) of Jehovah’s Witnesses / JW.ORG

You landed here because somewhere in your recent history as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses you discovered that you have been deceived by the Governing Body (self-appointed FDS) of the leaders of the JW organization on teachings not supported in scripture. It would be safe to assume the catalyst for your re-examination of what you have accepted as Bible “Truth,” and zealously taught others in your ministry, was the discovery of the undeniable documented facts of the organization’s ten year alliance as a NGO with the United Nations, the handling of child sex abuse cases, and the shocking testimony of Geoffrey Jackson at the Australian Royal Commission (ARC) on CSA. These are but three of the many “wake up calls” for most Ex-JWs and current PIMO’s. We can compare this situation to when a marriage mate commits adultery, trust is the first thing to go in the relationship, the innocent party becomes suspicious of possible additional lies made in the past, and even when the innocent mate forgives the unfaithful one for the past infidelity they tend to scrutinize everything seemingly suspicious of the forgiven mate, the sacred foundation of trust has been broken. Similarly, all Jehovah’s Witnesses have placed their unquestioning trust in the men of the governing body, the self-proclaimed faithful and discreet slave to never lie to them and when like a marriage, lies are exposed all are devastated and wonder what else have we been deceived about from the men who lead the JW organization? That is when the dominos begin to fall!

The majority of JWs have never personally met the men of the GB so, obviously we bear some responsibility for ignoring Psalm 146:3 by not following the example of the Beroean’s (Acts 17:10-11) when it comes to verification of JW teachings based on the scriptures. Jesus said at John 4:23,24 we must worship Jehovah with spirit and truth, and it is understandable why PIMO’s would consider one such truth to be found at Revelation 18:4 that instructs “my people” to get out of Babylon the Great the empire of false religion, which they now believe includes the WTBTS aka JW.org. Sadly, this scripture seems to be one of the most misapplied among those JW’s who do not understand what and who make up the Temple of God which have never been part of Babylon the Great. Would it be safe to say many who identify as “Physically In Mentally Out” (JW PIMO’s) have concluded that physically “getting out” of the congregation to be an inescapable reality. If that is how you feel, please ponder this, is that really what Jehovah requires us to do? It has become apparent that Jehovah, over WT history, has been gradually removing the “deluding influence” he has allowed the “man of lawlessness” to place on those who “chose to believe the lie” (2Thess. 2:11,12) waking up thousands of his people globally by various methods whilst at the same time giving us all the needed opportunity to re-examine the teachings of the self-appointed “faithful slave” as we now study the Bible using exegesis, (ex-out and hegeisthai to guide or lead in the Greek) continually praying for holy spirit to guide our endeavor. The question one may ask, what should we do now if we stay within the congregation before God brings final judgement on the organization that bears his Holy name. 1 Peter 4:17,18.

We could compare ourselves to those in Ezekiel’s day who received “the mark” on the forehead because they were “sighing and groaning” over the detestable things taking place in Jehovah’s Temple and the apostate nation of Israel (Ezekiel 9:4) as we find ourselves in the same situation and therefore, we are conscious that if we stay within our local congregation we will eventually be removed as an apostate when choosing to follow the inspired scriptures ignoring the dictates of the GB. Many have decided to leave as they just can’t take it anymore and this is a personal decision between Jehovah, Jesus, and the individual Christian without judgement from other flawed humans.(Romans 14:10) That said, we must ask ourselves, what are Jehovah’s requirements for us during this time of the Man of Lawlessness’ complete manifestation within God’s household? We will explore that question within this community prayerfully requesting guidance from Jehovah.

The purpose of A Place for JW PIMO’s

One of the most important actions we can take is to offer support and encouragement now and up through the end of the JW/WT organization as we know it will come at the direction from Jehovah. We certainly want to encourage all to maintain their complete faith in Jehovah and continue to follow his Son Jesus no matter what we may face in the future and remember this has all been prophesied to take place within the household of God, his Spiritual Temple. In reality, considering those of us remaining for a time (PIMO) within the local congregations are technically physically in yes, but scripturally awake.* (“PISA”) see From PIMO to PISA

*Although the popular acronym PIMO is part of our site address, (aplace4jwpimos.org) it is used as a beacon to those who identify as such, I think PISA (physically in scripturally awake) would be more apropos if we must use an acronym to identify ourselves. My reasoning, if we are “physically in” the congregation attending meetings and field service etc. then it is impossible to be “mentally out” especially if we are aware of the scriptural fallacies used by the JW organization to support their doctrines. (eisegesis=reading in)

It is true, there is a lack of secure and safe places for fellowship and encouragement to fortify our faith, and we are limited to locations where open discussions of scriptures can be found for JWs online. All Christians need encouragement and association especially under the distressing circumstances we find ourselves, (Romans 1:12) and this community will respectfully examine the current doctrinal fallacies including many of Rutherford’s teachings, much of which still remains and promoted by the self-proclaimed G.O.D.-Guardians Of Doctrine the acronym of the GB/leaders role given by G. Jackson during his ARC testimony! Sound familiar read 2Thess. 2:4; 1Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 10:24,25

This community’s intention is to provide a refuge for those who remain in God’s household while concurrently attempting to help others now by being examples of those who are led by holy spirit as part of God’s household and spiritual temple displaying obedience and trust in Jehovah in contrast to blindly following the GB-The MOL within your local congregation! You can be confidant that like minded individuals, (PIMO’s) will notice and be drawn to you within your local congregation. Another intention is to be a “waystation” if you will, for those determined to leave, exercising their individual Christian freedom, to encourage them to remain faithful to Jehovah and continue to follow Jesus when leaving or “removed” from the congregation for obeying God over men. Jesus the head of the congregation along with his father have never instructed anyone to leave his household, the Spiritual Temple.

In harmony with John 13:34,35 we can show loving concern for each other especially if we experience a forced removal from the congregation as many have been “tossed about” and lost their faith! ( Ephesians 4:14 ) This continued support is also necessary when one decides to “ride it out” within the JW congregation, as noted earlier, there are few if any online locations uniquely focused on PIMO support. Unfortunately, most ex-JW websites and YouTube channels produced by some who are now atheist / evolutionist, those who have returned to the plethora of false teachings, (even the Trinity) and some return too and promote their non-Christian former lifestyles! (Proverbs 26:11) Many of these sites are filled with unscriptural hate speech and revenge motivated talk as well as misinformation, and some even producing an outright comedy show about Jehovah’s Witnesses, while mocking Jehovah’s name! Sadly, these types of YouTube channels and websites only confirm the GB’s rhetoric of apostates being “mentally diseased” which validates the fear that the rank-and-file JW already possess of anything ex-JW. I am confident you know this to be true as you have invested hours searching for information on the previously outlined malfeasance of the GB, including a host of unscriptural doctrinal “flip flops” or “new light” due to their multiple failed prophecies. Deuteronomy 18:20-22

This community will focus on topics that have an impact on those of us who remain in the apostate organization, our ministry following Jesus within the congregation, and our command to make disciples etc. We can all share our coping and work around methods openly with feedback from our fellow PISA’s, and the moderators will keep “A Place for JW PIMO’s” from following the negative patterns of other ex-JW communities! You will find here a “no judgement zone” from your fellow Physically In Scripturally Awake brothers and sisters who are experiencing the same extreme stress, fear, concerns for family, depression, and loneliness with some who have even contemplated suicide. This community will be a secure refuge and Isaiah 32:2 states a “hiding place” to help each other cope with an almost impossible situation, a real “catch 22” that only a fellow JW could comprehend.

That stated, it would be unfair to lump every ex-JW community with the same pejorative as there are websites & forums that are beneficial, and “A Place for JW Pimos” will refer to and post articles from those deemed a good fit with our goals of supporting our community. Note, 1f you have ever visited the Watchtower headquarters, you probably toured the vast library of books and Bible commentaries from theologians of Christendom used for research by the JW writing committee, and I consider a minority of ex and current JWs today to be modern day Bible commentators that could be extremely helpful when re-examining our JW teachings, and I see no reason to “re-invent the wheel” as the saying goes on certain topics that are currently researched and published online. This is not to say I agree with everything these commentators now teach, but they are helpful in using our newly revived critical thinking skills and God given power of reason, and of course, we always request holy spirit for Bible understanding. ( Romans 12:1 ) You can check out a brief overview of the commentators utilized in this community under “Resources.

In conclusion it is suggested that each of us in this community of Christians (who are out of the JW cell but remain in the “prison”) prayerfully consider as part of our personal ministry, contributing your methods and suggestions that have helped you in coping while setting the example of being part of God’s Spiritual Temple for any family as well as any within the congregation ( a tall order I know) who are silently sighing and groaning over the detestable things taking place in Jehovah’s house? When Jehovah destroys the WT organization most JW’s will be in chaos, and those unprepared may even become suicidal! Remember ” There is nothing hidden that will not be manifest… Luke 8:17 , 1 Corinthians 10:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:6, Micah 7:7

This community is deigned to encourage all of God’s children whether you are staying or determined to leave the congregation. Please remain within God’s Household and continue to follow Jesus by keeping our faith in our loving heavenly Father Jehovah as “we will reap if we do not tire out.” Galatians 6:9
